Mongpong

Mongpong is a small hill village located in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. This village is located on the bank of Teesta river, at this place the river breaks into several streams. Mongpong is located on the fringe of Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, and home to several birds like Brahmini duck, Pin-tailed duck, poacherd duck, mallard, bar-headed goose comes here from the Central Asia and Ladakh during the winter. It is known for its beautiful landscape with Teesta river, mountains and forests, which attracts a lot of tourists. Accommodation is available at the Mongpong Forest Rest House, managed by the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation (WBFDC).
